Asian Poker Tour Online Highlights from Day 1

Natural8 Ambassador Michael Soyza Wins Inaugural APT Online Series $1,000 High Roller

For the first time in history, the popular Asian Poker Tour (APT) is taking place online and the inaugural Asian Poker Tour 2020 Online Series has just kicked off on April 29th. A total of 62 events are scheduled throughout 12 days with more than $1.5 million in guaranteed prizes up for grabs. All winners of the online edition will be awarded trophies and the traditional APT Player of the Series will also be crowned.

The Natural8 ambassadors have already tasted victory on the first day of the festival as Malaysia’s Michael Soyza topped a field of 70 entries in Event #2 High Rollers, which came with a buy-in of $1,000. The guaranteed prize pool was more than doubled and the top nine spots were paid. Among others, Markus “PrinzOfDTO” Prinz took home a portion of the prize pool but it was Soyza that walked away with the top prize of $18,288.30.

APT Event #1 Monster Stack: All guarantees on Day 1 smashed

At the time of writing, two flights of Event #1 $300 Monster Stack were already completed and 107 players out of 306 entries advanced so far. The guarantee of $30,000 will likely be more than tripled and China’s Jacob Tang leads the Day 1 survivors so far with an impressive stack of 101 big blinds for the first level of the final day on April 30th, 2020.

An above-average stack for the final day belongs to Taiwanese poker pro Pete “TurboPete” Chen, Team Hot ambassadors Phachara Wongwichit, Kosei Ichinose, and Kitty Kuo have all made it through to the final day as well. Flight C remains available for poker enthusiasts from all over the world that wish to take another shot at achieving the same feat. The blinds for the final showdown will recommence at 1,500-3,000 with an ante of 500.

More Excitement and Action at the APT Online Series

Satellites for the first-ever APT Online Series are available for as low as $6 while the buy-ins start at $50 and go up all the way to $5,000 in the two editions of the Super High Rollers. Poker fans can also look forward to final table live streams in English, Cantonese, Japanese and Vietnamese for the Main Event, all Championships events and both Super High Rollers.

Flagship tournament of the entire festival is the $500 Main Event, which comes with a staggering guaranteed prize pool of $200,000. Players can qualify via $50 satellites and then secure their seat for the final day in four regular flights on May 3rd and 4th, a fifth turbo heat kicks off four hours prior to the conclusion on May 5th.

Another event to certainly gather the attention of poker enthusiasts is the $800 APT Championships, which contains five starting days and a guarantee of $250,000. For those that don’t want to fork out the full buy-in, several $88 satellites are scheduled as of May 8th to take part in one of the major events for a fraction of the cost.

PLO & Short Deck available at APT 2020 Online Series

Lovers of other poker variants than the usual No-Limit Hold’em can look forward to the Pot Limit Omaha Championships and Short Deck Championships. Both tournaments come with a buy-in of $400 and guarantees of $25,000, the trophies will be awarded on May 6th and May 7th respectively.

At the same time as the APT Online Series, the spectacular GG World Series of Poker (WSOP) Super Circuit offers players from all over the world the opportunity to claim one of 18 coveted WSOP Circuit rings in the comfort of their own living room.
