For the casual poker fan who is also active on social media networks, the name Dan Bilzerian may certainly ring a bell. Not because of any final table appearances at the World Series of Poker or another major live event but because of his lavish lifestyle, which has since resulted in more than 32 million followers on Instagram.
Perhaps, tournaments aren’t his thing as Bilzerian indeed only has one cash on his The Hendon Mob profile, a 180th place in the 2009 WSOP Main Event in Las Vegas for $36,626. However, many posts of the “King of Instagram” hint to private high stakes cash games, during which he has supposedly won millions of dollars. And as of December 3rd, 2020, Bilzerian has joined the ambassador team of GGPoker to represent the brand alongside renowned poker players such as Daniel Negreanu, Fedor Holz, Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier and Felipe Ramos.
“No one in poker has a bigger reach than Dan,” said fellow GGPoker ambassador Negreanu once the news was out. “He has won millions in cash games and isn’t afraid to get into the mix against the sharks in the high-stakes streets at GGPoker!”
It is not the first time either that GGPoker hired a mainstream celebrity to represent the brand, as former tennis star Boris Becker was also previously wearing the GGPoker patch. In recent weeks and months, Formula One star Lewis Hamilton and former tennis star Yevgeny Kafelnikov also took part in major tournaments on the GGPoker Network.
In August 2020, Bilzerian made moves in the Indian online poker market when BlitzPoker took over FTR Poker to become part of the Spartan Poker Network. While on the road in Europe with Bill Perkins in recent times, Bilzerian has also already been spotted playing poker at the nosebleed cash game tables on GGPoker where he battled against some of the biggest names on the international poker circuit.
