Neymar Jr. may be a superstar and widely considered one of the best football players in the world, but did you know he also plays poker?
The 28-year-old professional football player who plays as a forward for Ligue 1 club Paris Saint-Germain and the Brazil national team has been a poker fan for some time. He has been spotted in many WSOP events in Vegas over the years and now that WSOP has moved online this year, we’ve seen him follow suit with participation in events like Event #78: $1,000 Turbo No Limit Hold ‘em 8-Handed and the record breaking Event #77: No Limit Hold’em Main Event this festival.
One of his best cashes was in 2018, where he finished in 6th place for $21,072 in the R$7,000 No Limit Hold’em - High Rollers (Event #13) in the Brazilian Series of Poker (BSOP) in Sao Paulo.
You can catch him in action for Event #79 $25,000 Heads-Up No Limit Hold’em in the WSOP 2020 Online tournaments happening on Natural8! Capped at 128 players, this 2-day freezeout event is not one to be missed.
If Neymar Jr. wins this event, he will be the fifth Brazilian player to win a bracelet this WSOP season, following in the likes of two-time bracelet winner Yuri Dzivielevski (Event #42: $400 PLO - PLOSSUS), Team Bling members Marcelo “Marolo” Jakovjlevic Pudla (Event #32: $100 NLHE - The Opener) and Eduardo “Xapilskinha” Garla (Event #55: HK$8,000 NLHE Asia Championship), and Leonardo “Babaehduro” Mattos (Event #59: $2,500 Double Stack NLHE).
